Before we moved into our new [Habitat] home, our family was always under extreme stress. The cost of renting on the South Shore is extreme to say the least. Add to that the shortage of housing. We have moved five times in five years. Our children have had to change schools several times. Our rent was always so high; we always had trouble making ends meet. The basic need of housing was our biggest burden, and the weight of this stress was taking its toll on the our whole family.
In November 2008, Habitat for Humanity raised the first wall of a new home for Karen Struck, a single mother of two, in Stoughton, Massachusetts. This video provides of glimpse of the beginning stages of this project, and the wonderful people who are making it happen. Video by Tom Thrasher.
CBT Architects of Boston MA decided to celebrate their 40th year in business by designing a unique home for South Shore Habitat for Humanity's first home in Stoughton, MA. CBT also donated $50,000 toward the cost of building the home. This video contains the interviews with two of members of the CBT staff who are invovled with this unique project.
IBEW Local 103 is showcased in this TV spot highlighting their involvment with South Shore Habitat for Humanity. Their skilled membership has volunteered their talents to be involved in their community by giving back and help with the electrical needs of South Shore Habitat for Humanity's construction of homes for those in need. It is testimony to what a great organization can do in partnership with Habitat.

This house was designed by CBT Architects of Boston who also donated $50,000 toward the construction costs as their way of celebrating as a company 40 years of success.
The sale of beautiful bird houses serve as a wonderful metaphor to raise funds and awareness of the need for homes for those in need as South Shore Habitat for Humanity celibrates it's 15th Annual Bird House Show at South Shore Plaza in Braintree MA. This is a 3-day event at the end of April each year and has become a great way to obtain unique and one-of-a-kind Mother's Day, end of year Teacher Appreciation and even Father's Day gift's that go to help others through the purchase.
