Tri-Valley LPC (Medfield, Millis, & Medway):   Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at the Medway Community Church, 193 Main Street (Route 109), at 7:30 pm. We are always in need of volunteers for our Fundraising, Outreach, Construction and Faith Relations Committees. An orientation for new attendees is held at each meeting.

Things continue to move along for the construction of a South Shore Habitat for Humanity house in Medway under the leadership of the Tri-Valley Local Partnership Committee (LPC). The site plan for 9 Walker Street has been approved and plans are underway for clearing the lot, excavating and pouring the foundation in early November. Drive by the site (0.2 miles off Village Street) to see our progress!

The key component of Habitat's efforts is the participation of the prospective homeowner family in the construction of their house. The process of selecting the family is complete and the family will be introduced in a ceremony at the site in early December.

Work teams will be scheduled once the foundation is in place. We also need help with fundraising and providing lunches and snacks for work crews.  If you are not already on an e-mail list for Tri-Valley LPC, please contact us.

South Shore Habitat for Humanity operates through Local Partnership Committees (LPC) in 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston. We are pleased to be the newest of these groups, spreading the word about Habitat in Medway, Millis and Medfield, with the goal of building a new home in the area in partnership with families in need of safe, decent and affordable housing.

Thanks to the efforts of the Medway Affordable Housing Committee and the Town of Medway, we have the deed to a .9 acre parcel of land at 9 Walker Street, just a short distance from Village Street. Construction of a single-family house is scheduled to begin in November 2009.

In order break ground, we must raise $75,000, which represents one-half the cost of the house. We have made great strides in meeting that goal, but we need your help! We can only make this happen as a community effort, so please consider making a tax-deductible donation.

Once the foundation is in the ground, we look forward to welcoming construction volunteers for our Saturday Work Days. Although individuals are welcome, we encourage groups from local churches, civic and social groups, businesses and schools. (volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.) No experience is necessary. We will have skilled builders on site as crew leaders.
