About Us
Our Mission
South Shore Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, nonprofit organization dedicated to building simple, decent homes in partnership with families in need.
Affiliate History
South Shore Habitat for Humanity was founded in Norwell in 1986 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. In its first six years, with the cooperation of several South Shore towns, the organization was able to help six families make desperately needed renovations on their homes. In 1992, South Shore Habitat constructed its first single-family home in Weymouth. Since then, we have completed 43 homes in 18 towns, helping over 70 adults and 150 children build a place to call home.

South Shore Habitat Homes
South Shore Habitat homes are designed to fit the architecture and landscape of the neighborhood as well as the zoning requirements of the town. A typical Habitat home is 1200 square feet and has three bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a living/dining area. One-story homes have one bathroom and two-story homes have one and a half bathrooms. Homes come equipped with all new appliances. The homes are energy efficient and designed to be as maintenance free as possible. All homes can be built in compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA). Our homes are built under the supervision of a licensed Site Supervisor according to Massachusetts Building Code Regulations.
